Hi, I’m Scott!

I simplify the hardest parts of “doing good” so individuals and organizations can achieve their highest and best purpose.

My Improbably Awesome Journey

I’ve spent my career at the intersection of corporate law, global philanthropy, the private sector, and cross-sector social impact initiatives. With recent forays into entrepreneurship and creative endeavors, I find myself fulfilled as ever with incredible work yet still eager to see what unfolds next!

Here’s more…

I started my legal career in a law firm mailroom in high school and eventually became a 24-year-old corporate lawyer in Chicago. Five years later, I took an unexpected (but delightful!) detour to Arkansas, where I was one of the first to receive a Master of Public Service degree from the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service.

While there, I became a 31-year-old intern at the Clinton Foundation, surrounded by a bunch of college kids. That led me to a one-year fellowship focused on rural philanthropy, where an accidental doorway conversation led to starting the legal department at the Clinton Foundation—and subsequently one of the most adrenaline-fueled rides in philanthropy.

Over the next 10 years, this new department would support the work of thousands of colleagues working in 40+ countries on ~14 initiatives with dynamic cross-sector partners on the most pressing global challenges.

All these pivots led me to my purpose: open sourcing the shared success secrets that support social impact at scale through Beyond Advisers.

“I imagine a world in which every individual and organization has everything they need to ‘do more good, better’ every day in every way—in their life and work—to leave the world better than they found it.”

Our pioneering social impact consulting firm supports the world’s biggest businesses, brands, and brains across sectors in designing, building, and growing their social impact work. We aim to disarm and delight what clients have come to expect from consulting firms by continuing to refine our predictable and reliable approach to simplified and scalable social impact success.

My experiences in an extraordinary world of innovative doers also sparked a new endeavor, Beyond Creative, where I’m developing my creative side to tell stories with purpose. (Yes, even lawyers have a creative side!)

In further pursuit of entrepreneurial excitement, I’ve taken many of the lessons learned throughout my career and applied them to Molis Coaching, where we established an unprecedented and unparalleled professional peer education business that reimagined and reinvented continuing education for busy but motivated professionals, producing extraordinary results and record profits at every level of the value chain.

If it can work in that profession, it can work anywhere—and I’m excited to see that happen!

Meet My Family

With my kids Ray and Asprey, and my wife Amy—finance attorney, BigLaw partner, and pioneer in the world of Social Impact Bonds/Pay for Success—our family’s lives of purpose and impact include a love for the work we do each day, animal rescue, special needs dogs, and living life on - and with - purpose.

To that end, we created The Curran Family Impact Fund to support initiatives that align with our mission, vision, and values (more on that below).

But first…take it away Lester!
